Saim Ayub Ruled Out For 6 Weeks Due To Ankle Injury
The Pakistan National Cricket Team encountered a significant setback during the second Test match against the South Africa National Cricket Team, as young opener Saim Ayub has been sidelined not only for this match but also for the next six weeks of cricket.
Saim Ayub of the Pakistan National Cricket Team suffered a serious injury on the first day of the ongoing second Test against the South Africa National Cricket Team. The final game of the two-match series is being held at Newlands in Cape Town.
Saim Ayub, in an effort to prevent the boundary, injured his ankle and appeared to be in significant discomfort. The Pakistan opening batter struggled to walk and was carted off the field before being taken for scans to assess the severity of his injury.
The scans indicated that Ayub had a fractured ankle and would not continue in the match. Additionally, the batter will be sidelined for approximately 6 weeks, which means he could miss the tri-series involving the New Zealand National Cricket Team and the South Africa National Cricket Team and there is a huge question for his selection ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The Pakistan National Cricket Team will experience a significant loss with the absence of Saim Ayub, as he has been performing exceptionally well. He displayed his strong batting skills during the ODI series and showed promising form in the first Test as well.
In the first innings, Saim Ayub scored 14 runs, and in the second innings, he tallied 27 runs. It’s understandable that the opening batter would feel disappointed about being sidelined. The current match is set to be quite challenging for Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Ayub will be sidelined for six weeks due to an injury. The governing body stated that the batter will stay with the team and return to Pakistan with the squad after the match ends. The statement said:
“Pakistan opener Saim Ayub is out of competitive play for up to six weeks as a result of a right ankle fracture he suffered while fielding on the first day of the second men’s Test match against South Africa at Newlands on Friday.
“An MRI performed on Friday afternoon confirmed the fracture, which has been secured in an Ankle Medical Moon Boot. While Saim will not take part in the remainder of the Test, he will remain with the team and fly back to Pakistan with the squad after the match is over.”
