Bumrah Injury Update: WTC On Line, And India`s Star Bowler Got Injured

India’s captain Jasprit Bumrah experienced an injury scare on the second day of the current fifth and final Test against Australia on Saturday.

The prominent fast bowler felt discomfort and was taken for scans at a local hospital, having bowled only one over after Lunch at the Sydney Cricket Ground. In a press conference after Day 2 concluded, pacer Prasidh Krishna disclosed that Jasprit Bumrah experienced back spasms, casting significant doubt on his availability for Day 3.

Krishna also mentioned that the team is awaiting an update from the medical staff regarding the availability of their star pacer.

“He experienced a back spasm and has undergone scans. The medical team is keeping a close eye on him. We will have more information as soon as the medical team updates us,” Krishna said to the press.

Nevertheless, as per a report from the Times of India, Jasprit Bumrah is “fine” to bat, and a decision regarding his bowling participation will depend on how he feels in the morning.

“Bumrah underwent a precautionary scan following a back spasm, but at this time, there is nothing serious. He is expected to be okay to bat, though a final decision regarding his bowling will be made based on how he feels in the morning. We’ll have to wait and see, as the medical team is monitoring him closely,” the report stated.

In Bumrah’s absence, Prasidh Krishna (3-42), Mohammed Siraj (3-51), and Nitish Kumar Reddy (2-32) rose to the occasion and took wickets to dismiss Australia after they resumed at 9-1.

At the end of the day in Sydney, India was at 141-6, with Ravindra Jadeja on eight and Washington Sundar on six, after bowling Australia out for 181 in response to their first-innings total of 185.

Rishabh Pant played a quick innings, scoring a fifty that helped India extend their lead from the first innings.

Pant made his intentions clear by hitting a six on his very first ball, reaching 50 after just 29 deliveries with another powerful shot that sailed over the boundary.

Australia currently leads the series 2-1, and India must win at the Sydney Cricket Ground to keep hold of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
