Younis Khan To Mentor Afghanistan In Upcoming ICC CT 2025
Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has been appointed as a mentor for Afghanistan for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This news was confirmed by an official from the Afghanistan Cricket Board to Cricbuzz on Wednesday. Younis previously held the position of batting coach for the Afghanistan team in 2022.
“The ACB has designated former top-order Pakistani player Younis Khan as a Mentor for the Champions Trophy 2025. He (Younis) will join the squad prior to the tournament commencing in Pakistan,” stated Sayeed Naseem Sadat, the spokesman for ACB, to Cricbuzz on Wednesday.
During his playing career, Younis accumulated 10,099 runs in 118 Test matches, including his highest score of 313. He also reached the pinnacle of the ICC rankings as the world number one batsman. Moreover, he captained Pakistan to secure its first T20 World Cup victory in 2009.

After retiring, he took on various coaching roles, including a brief period as batting coach for the Pakistan team.

Younis has been involved with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and most recently served as head coach for the Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
