Jasprit Bumrah Named As The Player Of The Month For December 24
Jasprit Bumrah’s commendable performances on India’s tour to Australia in December 2024 earned him the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, edging out others like Pat Cummins and Dane Paterson.
Across three Tests, Bumrah took 22 wickets at an average of a remarkable 14.22 undoubtedly leading the charge for India’s bowling unit.
Bumrah was a live wire right from the start, displaying fireworks from the first Test in Adelaide. His four-wicket haul made all the difference in bringing down Australia’s first innings lead well within India’s grasp.

This was followed by a gloriousing performance of a tense Brisbane, where he took six wickets in Australia’s first innings to destroy the entire batting order. Bumrah completed his nine-wicket haul, with an additional three wickets in the second innings.
His work ensured that rain interrupted the fun, forcing it to a draw; India remained alive even in the middle of the series.
Test match in Melbourne on Boxing Day saw Bumrah stand out once again with four wickets in the opening innings-providing some solace amid an otherwise shoddy bowling effort by the Indian team.
Later he went on and produced a five-for in the second innings with bowling Australia out for 234; however, India’s batting collapse saw them lose the match by 184 runs.
In tough times for the Indian cricket team during the tour, Bumrah came through as the lone knight for the side in raising performances that had a match-defining impact. His exceptional contributions managed to bring him the Player of the Series award but further consolidated his reputation as one of the greatest bowlers in world cricket.
This series saw him setting yet another landmark in his career, being the fourth-fastest player to have achieved the 200th Test wicket on the basis of balls bowled. He becomes the first bowler in the history of the game to achieve 200 Test wickets with an average below 20.
