Desert Vipers vs Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Match Report

The Desert Vipers and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders faced off in the ninth International League T20 match of 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The game began at 2:00 PM local time. The Desert Vipers demonstrated their supremacy in both bowling and batting with a resounding victory of 53 runs.

After being forced to bat first, the Vipers scored a respectable 193 for 5 in their 20 overs. Fakhar Zaman started the innings, but his stay was short-lived as he only managed 11 off 13 before Jason Holder put him out. After that, Alex Hales took charge and dramatically increased the scoring rate with a brilliant 58 off just 36 balls that included three fours and four sixes. He added 71 runs for the second wicket in a vital partnership with Dan Lawrence, who hit a quick 49 off 32. Every 2.46 balls, Lawrence hit a boundary to break up his innings.

Azam Khan and Sherfane Rutherford added the final touches with some aggressive hitting towards the end, while Vipers captain Sam Curran supplied a helpful 35 to keep the momentum going.

Both Jason Holder and David Willey led the Knight Riders’ bowling attack and kept things tight. Holder was very economical, letting up only 24 runs in his four overs while taking two wickets. But, particularly in the final overs, Sunil Narine and the other bowlers were unable to completely stop the run flow.

The Abu Dhabi Knight Riders had a difficult start as they attempted to chase a formidable 194. The innings took a bad turn when Philip Salt was dismissed for a 2 runs in the opening over. Joe Clarke scored a quick 55 off 32 as he and Kyle Mayers attempted to steady the batting, but wickets dropped often. The rest of the batting order did not contribute much, although Mayers reached 21. Andre Russell fell for six, while Charith Asalanka and Sunil Narine were only able to generate single digits. Following Clarke’s dismissal, the Knight Riders had a mini-collapse in the innings, losing their final six wickets for a mere 57 runs.

Nathan Sowter, the star bowler for the Vipers, took three wickets for forty-four runs in his four overs. With two wickets for 22, Wanindu Hasaranga was just as successful, and Dhruv Parashar and Mohammad Amir both contributed with significant breakthroughs at pivotal moments.

With their batting establishing a challenging goal and their bowlers skillfully defending it, the Vipers’ all-around strength was on full display in the match, guaranteeing a convincing victory that would raise their tournament standings. This game demonstrated the Desert Vipers’ squad’s strategic depth in addition to showcasing individual performances.
