Rishabh Pant Cheeky Statement Against Punjab Kings
On Thursday, Pant was officially announced as the captain of Lucknow Super Giants for the 2025 IPL season, and cricket fans could hardly contain their excitement. Along with Sanjiv Goenka, the team owner, and mentor Zaheer Khan, the press conference was held in Kolkata. In the conference, Pant talked about his new role and shared his experience in the auctioneer’s tent; he narrated how he felt when auctioning for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) during the IPL 2025 auction with a wry smile on his face.
LSG bought Rishabh Pant for a whopping ₹27 crores, and Pant said that during the auction, his biggest worry was that he might end up with PBKS simply because they had the highest purse. “I only had one tension, that was Punjab (laughs). They had the highest purse. When Shreyas went to Punjab, I felt I could make it to LSG.”
The announcement of Pant was captioned to represent not only his batting prowess but also his captaincy ability. Pant indeed seems to have a good track record after having captained the Delhi Capitals and probably gaining most of the praises there for displaying turnout as a captain, scoring 446 runs in IPL 2024 after he’s had such a horrific car accident in December 2022. He stressed on creating a working environment based on teamwork, trust, communication, and the never-say-die mentality. “If you give confidence and trust in a player, he will do things that you cannot even imagine, Pant said while expounding on his philosophy of empowering players. It is expected to work well with the squad comprising international talents such as David Miller, Mitchell Marsh, and Aiden Markram, while Indian players like Ravi Bishnoi and Mayank Yadav add appeal too.
Strategic acquisition of Pant is part of broader plans to completely overhaul their leadership as well as playing style.
