Paarl Royals vs Durban Super Giants Match Report
On a thrilling night at Boland Park, Paarl, the Paarl Royals chased down a target of 144 to win by 6 wickets against the Durban Super Giants in match number 23 of the SA20, 2025 series. As the sun set over Paarl, the match witnessed a perfect blend of strategy, stunning strokes, and tight bowling performances.
Winning the toss, the Durban Super Giants elected to bat first but were quite off the mark for the opening spurt. Bjorn Fortuin sent Quinton de Kock out for a duck, setting an early unacceptable tone for the innings. Despite the early exit, Marcus Stoinis played a monumental 55 off 40, featuring 5 fours and 2 sixes; with a push from Kane Williamson who contributed 45 off 36 deliveries, the Giants reached a somewhat respectable score of 143 for 7 in 20 overs. The match hinged on a straight finish, Mitchell Van Buuren and Dayyaan Galiem helped the Royals cross the line with Van Buuren 13 not out and Galiem remaining not out on 8, finishing with 1 ball to spare.
The Durban Super Giants seemed to have built up a good attack, especially those by Subrayen, Maharaj, and Stoinis, but nonetheless could not defend their total.
