Aa strained left hamstring has kept Ben Stokes out of all cricket for at least three months. In Hamilton, where his team won the series 2-1, the England skipper sustained the injury during the third Test match against New Zealand.
Ben Stokes’ injury prevented him from being included in England’s 15-man team for the Champions Trophy next year earlier this week. The 2023 World Cup was his most recent appearance in the 50-over tournament.
Because of these chronic injuries, Ben Stokes has had a difficult time. After the ODI World Cup, he had knee surgery in October 2023, and it took a long time for him to recover. England was unable to fully utilize his services, even during the competition. He missed the rest of the English summer due to a similar torn hamstring that he sustained in August of this year. When he returned, he had to balance his bowling workload. In order to better manage his fitness, he decided not to participate in the 2024 Indian Premier League and did not enter his name in the subsequent super auction.
“I have to work so much harder on the physical side of the job to allow me to go out and do my job, but I got a good amount of overs in during the last two games and I am more confident about getting through a lot of spells in a day,” he said, displaying his confidence in his body and his ability to manage it, before the Hamilton Test.
“I reached that point prior to tearing my hamstring. I experienced a setback while bowling in the summer, but I feel over it and am not concerned about anything else happening. According to Ben Stokes, “I work harder because I have to, but as you get older, you think about your body a bit more.”
After bowling a lot of overs in the same match, Stokes has since been sidelined by a similar chronic injury. Stokes will therefore be absent from the Hundred competition, which starts on January 9 of the following year.
