Bevon Jacobs receives maiden T20Is Call-up for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka at home, starting on December 28. Bevon Jacobs, who was recently signed by the Mumbai Indians in the blockbuster IPL auction, hit a 16-ball 39 for New Zealand XI in a warm-up game against Sri Lanka on Monday.
Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, and Matt Henry return for both the T20I and ODI series after missing last month’s tour to Sri Lanka to prepare for the Test series against England.
This series, consisting of three T20Is and three ODIs, will be Mitchell Santner’s debut as New Zealand’s full-time white-ball skipper. The last ODI series, in January 2025, will be played before the team selects its Champions Trophy roster.

Bevon Jacobs drew attention in last year’s Super Smash, New Zealand’s domestic T20 tournament, where he scored 134 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 188.73 as a finisher for the Canterbury Kings.
“It’s obviously an exciting time for Bevon and his family,” New Zealand selector Sam Wells said. “He’s a promising player with a lot of talent and we’re looking forward to exposing him to international cricket. He’s clearly got a lot of power with the bat, but he’s also shown in the longer formats that he has a decent technique and temperament.”
Zac Foulkes, Mitch Hay, and Tim Robinson, who had their white-ball debuts away from home earlier this year, will play in their maiden home series. Hay is included in both the ODI and T20I squads following a remarkable, record-breaking journey to Sri Lanka last month. Hay set a men’s record in the first T20I in Dambulla with five catches and one stumping. He also scored 49 in the second ODI at Pallekelle.
Hay will don the keeping gloves in the T20Is. In ODIs, he has been picked as a batting and keeping cover to the incumbent Tom Latham, who will join the squad for the 50-over games. Besides Latham, Will O’Rourke and Will Young will arrive for the ODIs too, taking the spots of Bevon Jacobs, Zak Foulkes and Tim Robinson – who have been picked only for for the T20Is. O’Rourke has been rested for the T20Is with a view of managing his workload as the strapping pacer has recently featured in eight Tests across the series against Sri Lanka, England and India.
