Dubai Capitals vs Sharjah Warriorz Match Report
In an entertaining match played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the Sharjah Warriorz outgunned the Dubai Capitals with a convincing victory in the 23rd match of the International League T20 in the year 2025. The action started at 06:30 PM local time with the Capitals batting first and putting a target of 132, which was quite comfortably chased down by the Warriorz in just 11.5 overs.
The Capitals batted first and could only manage to put together a score of 131 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings were anchored by Adam Rossington, who made a blistering 37 off 23 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes before falling to Adam Zampa. Shai Hope scored a steady 45 off 52 deliveries, but his support was not enough for the team to reach a competitive total.
The middle and lower order struggled, with Sikandar Raza getting 6 in 9 and Rovman Powell 32 not out in 16. The bowling unit of Sharjah led by Tim Southee was clinical, with Zampa and Ashton Agar providing good support; Zampa had his two essential scalps and Agar added one more to that.
The chase by the Warriorz was a brutal display. Tom Kohler-Cadmore was the most impressive of the lot, remaining not out for a brisk 54 off 32, hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes. He was well supported by Johnson Charles with a rapid 71 off 33 balls until dismissed and Avishka Fernando remaining not out on 36. Their aggressive batting enabled the Warriorz to finish the chase in 11.5 overs and with only one wicket down.
The bowling for Dubai was led by Haider Ali, who was the most economical, going for 37 runs in his 4 overs. However, the rest of the bowling unit consisting of Dushmantha Chameera, Obed McCoy, and Zahir Khan failed to supersize the run rate, and Chameera was particularly expensive at 13.39 runs per over.
The match was witness to the explosive batting might of Sharjah Warriorz, justifying their reputation of being able to chase down any total expertly with the firepower of Kohler-Cadmore and Charles. Winning with 9 wickets in hand and over 8 overs to spare, besides adding to their net run rate, showcased their dominance in the tournament. The feat is bound to carry them forward in momentum as they move further into the International League T20, 2025.
