India Squad For ICC Champions Trophy 2025:

Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja

India’s preliminary 15-man roster for the Champions Trophy, which starts on February 19, includes Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav. Harshit Rana will be used as a backup for Bumrah, who might not be fit for the first two games of the bilateral series, when the same team plays England in three ODIs in early February.

Prior to Saturday’s selection, there were concerns over Kuldeep’s and Bumrah’s injuries. Kuldeep had not played competitive cricket since undergoing surgery for a hernia in November, and Bumrah had sustained a linked to stress injury during the fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However Kuldeep is believed to be bowling 10–12 overs at a time, having been increasing his bowling workload at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

With Virat Kohli the No. 3, the middle order has the same look as the squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup with Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul retaining their spots, along with allrounders Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. Apart from Rahul, Rishabh Pant is the other wicketkeeper in the 15, preferred ahead of Sanju Samson who did not take part in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy. Washington Sundar is the fourth allrounder in the squad, which includes only four specialist bowlers.

The Champions Trophy roster included Mohammed Shami, who was only selected for the T20I team for the forthcoming home series against England after a protracted injury layoff. His most recent international cricket match was the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he took 24 wickets, the most in the competition.

The left-arm quick Arshdeep Singh earned a spot in the 15 after finishing as the highest wicket-taker in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and putting on strong international performances. In 2023, he was the top wicket-taker in India’s ODI series in South Africa. Mohammed Siraj was left out.

Though India can make any changes before 11th February, as the deadline for submitting the final squad is scheduled on 11th February

Prior to the Champions Trophy, India will play three bilateral ODIs against England on February 6, 9, and 12. These would be their first 50-over matches since the August tour of Sri Lanka last year. India’s Champions Trophy campaign starts on February 20 against Bangladesh, followed by matches against Pakistan on February 23 and New Zealand on March 2. India is in Group A. India’s government forbade the team from traveling to Pakistan, thus they play all of their games in Dubai.
