India Vs England: India Announced Their Squad For England T20 Series
Veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami is poised to make his return to international cricket after being included in India’s squad for the upcoming T20I series against England at home. The 34-year-old has not been part of the national team since the ODI World Cup final in 2023 due to an ankle injury, which required surgical intervention.

Although steady rehabilitation indicated a potential comeback during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, the BCCI’s Medical Team ultimately found Shami’s recovery progress to be unsatisfactory. The Bengal pacer showed his fitness by actively participating in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and his workload was monitored during the Vijay Hazare Trophy following a brief period of inflammation. The upcoming series against England could provide Shami with an opportunity to reinforce his international return, especially with the Champions Trophy approaching.

In addition to Shami’s comeback, the selection of Axar Patel as the vice-captain has emerged as a significant discussion point in the squad. Rishabh Pant has once again been omitted, having not played a T20I since July 2024. Sanju Samson remains the primary keeper-batter option and is anticipated to continue at the top of the order.
