Mumbai Indians Women vs UP Warriorz Women Match Highlights
In the evening of this exuberant way of life, Bengaluru saw the 11th match of the Women’s Premier League in 2025 being won by the Mumbai Indians Women, who blasted UP Warriorz Women by 8 wickets. In a very heated and colorful competition, both squads played their best, but not withstanding an average opening, it was the Mumbai side that executed a commendable performance, in sync with the floodlights shining down on them on that day.
As it was not much of a target to chase, the defending champions, without much ado, had a few overs to spare in bedazzling at the woven performance of batting. The UP Warriorz Women, batting first, lost the toss and managed to score 142 for 9 in pure 20 overs. Grace Harris stole the show with a 45, a little greater than a three-fourths century and an equal portion of six and two for the ball. With quick powerplays and aggressive surveys the request goes to fixing right before them throwing the rest of UP to ease to a total of 62. Vrinda Dinesh chipped in an equally good 33 off 30 balls, keeping the scoreboard ticking.
Only at some frame was the innings withdrawn with the fall of an easy wicket; spectacular cameos by Shweta Sehrawat whose slogging out 19 runs off 33 balls was really sparkling, but even then Mumbai was on top of things with the ball. For that, it must be said that Nat Sciver-Brunt led the attack with an impressive does of clean-bowling-3 for 18 while Shabnim Ismail’s fire-fragrance spell were 3 for 33, dealing with the lower order shamelessly.
And a few contributions from the exits of Sanskriti Gupta and Hayley Matthews managed to restrict UP, though with the encouraging knocks at some distance on features-A crisp finish from Uma Chetry and Kranti Goud. Chasing for 143, after a slow start, Mumbai Indians Women lost Yastika Bhatia cheaply for a duck, bowled by Deepti Sharma in the third over. It was Hayley Matthews who set the pace, anchoring the innings with a crisply executed knock of 59 off 50 balls, with seven fours.
The partnership with Nat Sciver-Brunt proved to be very crucial, as the duo stitched together a 133-run stand that pretty much sealed the game. Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten on 75 off 44 balls, hitting 13 fours along the way, rolling out a showcase of poise and power. Her innings kept Mumbai always ahead of the asking rate while UP’s bowlers struggled for wickets. Sophie Ecclestone would eventually take out Matthews in the 17th over, but it was far too little, too late.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s unbeaten 4 saw Mumbai home, alongside Sciver-Brunt, to 143 for the loss of 2 wickets in just 17 overs. The bowling effort from UP Warriorz lacked the sting to defend their total. Both Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma picked up one wicket apiece, but both went at more than 7 an over, conveying Mumbai’s effectiveness with the bat. Chinelle Henry was good, although expensive, with figures of 4-0-24-0, while the others, Grace Harris and Saima Thakor, were taken to pieces.
Mumbai rolled to 33 runs in the powerplay to set the tone for a chase which would never be challenged. This victory demonstrated the depth and composure of the Mumbai Indians Women, as the all-round brilliance of Sciver-Brunt took the throne. Grace Harris enveloped the UP Warriorz offerings in oohs and aahs but yet again exposed the frailties of their batting order, which let Mumbai’s chase off the leash. With the tournament moving towards its later stages, this result at Bangalore’s famed venue will always be remembered as a statement of intent in Mumbai’s title bid for the Women’s Premier League 2025.
