Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa will compete in the tri-nation ODI series at a newly refurbished venue in both Lahore and Karachi in the lead-up to the Champions Trophy: all three will compete once another before the top-two play off in a final match.
On February 8, the Gaddafi Stadium will host the opening match between Pakistan and New Zealand, followed by a day encounter between South Africa and New Zealand on February 10. The National Bank Stadium in Karachi would also host two matches, including the Pakistan versus South Africa match on February 12 and the final match question-and-answer session on February 14.
This tournament will serve as preparation for the Champions Trophy that will commence on February 19. The two refurbished stadiums will act as dress rehearsals before the marquee tournament. The PCB has announced that spectator capacity has been increased at Gaddafi Stadium where a new seating has been installed all over the venue.
“Additionally, 480 state-of-the-art LED lights have been installed to enhance broadcast LUX levels, ensuring a superior viewing experience for fans worldwide. To further elevate the spectator experience, two giant digital replay screens – measuring 80 feet x 30 feet and 22 feet x 35 feet – have been installed. A brand-new hospitality enclosure for players and officials is near completion, ensuring that the iconic stadium is fully operational to deliver an unparalleled experience for all stakeholders,” said a PCB release
.Additional major renovations were made at the Karachi stadium, where the new hospitality enclosure for players and officials was built at the University End. “350 LED lights enhancing broadcast coverage were installed, thereby allowing perfect visibility for viewers across the globe. Two digital replay screens had already been put into place and 5,000 new seats installed for further spectator comfort,” the press released in the statement
