Rajat Patidar Announced As The Captain Of RCB
On February 13, 2025, the Royal Challengers Bangalore announced man Rajat Patidar as the new captain, marking a new era for the team and a momentous shift that has occurred in light of the release of previous captain Faf du Plessis before the mega auction.
At merely 31, Patidar was a consistent performer for RCB after his initiation into the team. Joining in 2021, he faced a turbulent road. After an IPL debut that saw him score only 71 runs from four games, Patidar was released. However, he pulled through to join RCB from the next season, showing his abilities silent yet clear, leading to his being retained for 2025 for INR 11 crore.

The announcement was made official at a press conference held at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where RCB Director of Cricket Mo Bobat and head coach Andy Flower were present. Virat Kohli, former captain of RCB, had everything to do with this shift.
