Rashid Khan`s 7 Wicket Haul In 2nd Innings

Rashid Khan’s impressive seven-wicket performance led Afghanistan to a 72-run victory in the second Test held in Bulawayo, allowing the visitors to secure the series 1-0 after the first match ended in a draw. Zimbabwe was on the verge of defeat as they entered the final day, sitting at 205 for 8, and lost their last two wickets without adding to their overnight score.

Rashid might have claimed a wicket in his opening over when he nearly dismissed Richard Ngarava, but captain Hashmatullah Shahidi dropped a catch at point after sprinting in from cover. However, it did not significantly impact the match as Ngarava was run out just an over later by Shahidullah Kamal due to a misunderstanding on a single with Craig Ervine. Ervine, who had been Zimbabwe’s hope as they approached the fifth day, was eventually given out leg before wicket, granting Rashid his seventh wicket of the innings and securing the victory for Afghanistan.

Prior to Rashid’s domination of Zimbabwe’s batting order during the final two days, Afghanistan turned the situation around in the match with centuries from Rahmat Shah (139) and Ismat Alam (101), which enabled them to set a challenging target for the home team despite initially falling behind in the first innings.

Similar to their second innings, Zimbabwe’s first innings depended on three of their experienced batsmen to secure a lead. Sikandar Raza (61), Ervine (75), and Sean Williams (49) helped push past Afghanistan’s first innings total but were unable to replicate their performance in the second innings while chasing a target of 278. Ben Curran, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, and Raza got starts but Rashid dismissed each of them on Day 4. Ervine made another attempt to resist but the rest of the batting order could not keep pace, leading to Zimbabwe’s collapse as Rashid took down their top performer in the match, wrapping up with a total of 11 wickets.
