Shivam Dube To Join Indian Team At Rajkot
Shivam Dube has been added to the Indian T20I squad by the men’s senior selection committee. He was part of India’s World Cup-winning campaign last year. The T20 series against England consists of five matches.
Dube was to join the Indian team in Rajkot. It has been understood that Dube has been called up to the squad since Nitish Kumar Reddy picked up an injury, which he hasn’t yet recovered from.
Dube played for Mumbai in their Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir, but his performance there was immensely disappointing- he got out for 0 in both innings, and there was a rather bad defeat for Mumbai.
Dube was not originally picked for the Indian T20 side as selectors had gone with Reddy and Hardik Pandya as two all-rounders in the squad. The Mumbaikar has recovered from his back injury, which had ruled him out for the early part of the Ranji Trophy. He later became fit for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, representing Mumbai, which went on to win the title.
India had won the opening game versus England at Eden Gardens and are set to play the second match on Saturday in Chennai. Then, the third T20I will be staged on Tuesday in Rajkot, followed by the fourth one in Pune on Friday. The fifth and final T20I will be played in Mumbai on Sunday, February 2.
