Vijay Hazare Trophy , Day 3 Highlights
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Delhi vs Madhya Pradesh
With a strong bowling effort led by Navdeep Saini (4-37), Delhi defeated Madhya Pradesh by 79 runs after defending a respectable score of 211. Ishant Sharma’s new-ball session, in which he conceded just four runs in five overs, including two maidens, set the tone for Delhi’s defense, even though Saini took the most wickets. Although the veteran didn’t take any wickets, he put pressure on Saini, who took advantage of it. While Hrithik Shokeen (3-27) made significant breakthroughs with his deft off spin, Prince Yadav (2-22) also contributed. On a challenging surface, Delhi was once again saved by Anuj Rawat (78 off 103), whose innings made sure the bowlers had a reasonable total to work at.
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Services vs Maharashtra
With Ruturaj Gaikwad smashing a 74-ball 148, Maharashtra easily defeated Services by nine wickets. Due to Gaikwad’s antics, a modest target of 205 was reached in the 21st over, and Maharashtra only lost one wicket—that of opener Om Bhosale, who made just 24 but shared an 86-run partnership with Gaikwad. The Maharashtra captain dominated the innings from beginning to end, putting on a true clinic. Siddhesh Veer and Gaikwad shared an uninterrupted 119-run partnership following Bhosale’s demise, and Gaikwad easily surpassed the three-figure barrier in an innings that featured 11 sixes. With the exception of captain Mohit Ahlawat (61 off 64), Services’ batting effort was disorganized earlier, and it needed a few lower order contributions to raise the total above 200.
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Goa vs Haryana
Himanshu Rana (101 off 80) and Ankit Kumar (128* off 140) laid the groundwork for Haryana’s decisive eight-wicket victory over Goa. Haryana easily achieved the goal of 272 after the openers put on a 192-run partnership off just 165 deliveries. With 32 deliveries remaining, the victory was assured. Earlier, Ishaan Gadekar’s (83 off 114) and Darshan Misal’s (75 off 68) fifties helped propel Goa’s total of 271 to competitive levels. But Ankit and Rana made sure Haryana was hardly threatened by the total.
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Manipur vs Jharkhand
Jharkhand hammered down Manipur’s total of 253 in just 28.3 overs for the loss of two wickets thanks to a brilliant chase led by Ishan Kishan (134 off 78). Along with Kishan’s century, fellow opener Utkarsh Singh (68 off 64) contributed 196 off just 143 deliveries, effectively securing the victory for Jharkhand. The damage had already been done by both openers before to their respective dismissals, so it didn’t really matter that they couldn’t stay until the very conclusion.
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Puducherry vs Karnataka
In a game with little runs scored, Karnataka defeated Puducherry by three wickets thanks to a calculated century by Smaran Ravichandran (100* off 87). Karnataka was 78/4 at one point while chasing a challenging total of 211, but it was his 113-run partnership with Shreyas Gopal that saved them. Ravichandran’s genius and Gopal’s consistency overcame Puducherry’s bowlers, who had a strong start. However, Karnataka’s bowlers, led by Vidyadhar Patil (4-27), helped to set up the victory, with Gopal (2-44) also contributing with the ball.
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Baroda vs Kerala
Baroda defeated Kerala by 62 runs in a run-fest that saw nearly 750 runs scored. After smashing a world-record 349 in the SMAT Trophy, Baroda’s incredible batting performance helped them surpass 400 runs with a team effort. Together with Parth Kohli (72 off 87), Ninad Rathva (136 off 99) set the tone with a quick century as they added 197 for the second wicket. Baroda’s formidable middle order grabbed control after the platform was established, with Bhanu Pania (37* off 15), Vishnu Solanki (46 off 25), and Krunal Pandya (80* off 54) having a great time at the back end.
Kerala didn’t back down and got things started with a 113-run partnership between Ahammed Imran (51 off 52) and Rohan Kunnummal (65 off 50). After that, Mohammed Azharuddeen (104 off 58) had an outstanding effort, but he was unable to have adequate help at the other end due to the pressure on the scoreboard. There were more than four overs remaining when Kerala was bowled out.
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Gujarat vs Uttarakhand
Gujarat narrowly defeated Uttarakhand by five runs thanks to an outstanding last over from bowler Arzan Nagwaswalla. Nagwaswala maintained composure and got rid of the set batsman Himanshu Bisht to complete a historic victory with 13 needed off the last over and only one wicket left. Aarya Desai (106 off 119), who opened the innings, kept Gujarat’s total of 280 together, while Umang Kumar (87 off 63) provided the drive in the middle overs. Gujarat, on the other hand, drastically faltered from 260/3 to 280 all out, but ultimately it was just enough. Aditya Tare (47 off 45) and Yuvraj Chaudhary (50 of 57) both contributed, but Ravikumar Samarth (82 off 101) was the glue for Uttarakhand.
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Nagaland vs Punjab
Anmolpreet Singh excelled for the second consecutive game, this time with both bat and ball. With more than 15 overs remaining, Punjab defeated Nagaland by five wickets after he hit a 40-ball fifty-five after picking 2/14 with the ball. The tone was set by Punjab’s bowlers, with Raghu Sharma (3–33) standing out. Dega Nischal (77 off 124) and Chetan Bist (69* off 72) were the only players that got going for Mizoram. The 216 was a far below-average total, and Punjab’s stroke-heavy hitters easily destroyed it. In addition to Anmolpreet, Anmol Malhotra (45* off 62) and Sanvir Singh (23* off 29) received the job dobe, while Abhishek Sharma (41 off 35) and Nehal Wadhera (34 off 32) also received rapid runs.
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Andhra vs Rajasthan
Rajasthan easily defeated Andhra by nine wickets thanks to an unbroken 255-run partnership between Mahipal Lomror (134* off 119) and Ram Mohan Chouhan (120* off 133). With Lomror and Chouhan hardly exerting themselves, the aim of 263 was reached in the 44th over. After a strong start from Srikar Bharat (64 off 68), Andhra’s batters stumbled on a decent batting pitch. In addition to a strong cameo by KV Sasikanth (39* off 16), it took Yara Sandeep (80* off 67) to lead them to a decent score.
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Hyderabad vs Mumbai
Mumbai defeated Hyderabad by a tight margin of three wickets thanks to a brilliant 20-ball 44* from Shreyas Iyer, who came in at number nine. Mumbai, who were 105/7 at one stage, won the match thanks to a 70-run partnership between Tanush Kotian (39* off 37) and himself. Mumbai kept Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav until later and promoted their lower order hitters on a challenging pitch. Shivam Dube was supposed to bat at number 10, but he actually didn’t come out to bat at all. Although Hyderabad’s bowlers gave a strong performance, their 169-run total fell at least 30–40 runs shy of a respectable total. Atharva Ankolekar (4-55) was the best bowler for Mumbai, and their batting attempt was a complete shambles.
Vijay Hazare Trophy: Mizoram vs Uttar Pradesh
Mohsin Khan (3–34) and Shivam Mavi (5-29) helped Uttar Pradesh defeat Mizoram by a commanding nine wickets. Mohit Jangra’s 67-ball 70 helped Mavi’s efforts get Mizoram knocked out for a pitiful 141. The mark was reached in the 21st over, thus it was never going to pose a threat to UP, whose chase was spearheaded by Aryan Juyal’s 86 off 66 balls. Abhishek Goswami (47 off 52) and Juyal put up a 133-run opening partnership to end the chase, but the latter was unable to stay till
