Vijay Hazare Trophy: Rajasthan And Haryana Proceeds Further

Vijay Hazare Trophy: Haryana vs Bengal

Parth Vats’s impressive all-round display (62 runs and 3 wickets for 33 runs) set the stage for Haryana’s convincing 72-run triumph over Bengal, securing their spot in the quarterfinals where they will take on Gujarat.

Haryana opted to bat first and started steadily, but both openers quickly fell, leaving the team at 48 for 2. Nevertheless, Vats made sure Bengal couldn’t capitalize on the situation. He formed a 50-run partnership with Anket Verma and then built an 84-run stand with Nishant Sindhu before being bowled out by Karan Lal.

Sindhu also contributed with a half-century, while Sumit Kumar made a rapid 41 off just 32 balls later in the innings. Mohammed Shami and Mukesh Kumar managed to take five wickets, but Haryana still managed to post a strong total of 298 for 9, which ultimately proved too much for Bengal.

In response, Abhisek Porel and Sudip Gharami gave Bengal a solid start, with Anustup Majumdar helping maintain a positive position as they reached 153 for 3 by the 29th over. However, Vats returned to disrupt Bengal’s innings, dismissing Majumdar along with Karan Lal and Shami. Sindhu also exerted pressure by taking two wickets from the other end. Bengal suffered a collapse, losing their last seven wickets for just 73 runs and being all out for 226.

Vijay Hazare Trophy: Rajasthan vs Tamil Nadu

Varun Chakravarthy’s five-wicket haul went worthless as Rajasthan triumphed over Tamil Nadu in their thrilling pre-quarterfinal matchup, a match where the momentum fluctuated throughout. After their 19-run victory at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, Rajasthan is now set to compete against Vidarbha in the quarterfinals. Opting to bat first, Vidarbha started slowly, managing just 28 runs during the powerplay.

They also lost opener Sachin Yadav, who scored 4 runs off 27 balls. However, Abhijeet Tomar and Mahipal Lomror compensated effectively during the middle overs, forming a 160-run partnership in just 130 balls. They particularly took on Chakravarthy early in their innings and maintained intensity while facing spinners Sanjay Yadav and R Sai Kishore. Mohamed Ali and Vijay Shankar also faced little resistance, each hitting four sixes.

Yet, after Lomror was bowled out by Chakravarthy for a quick 60 off 49 balls in the 32nd over, Rajasthan’s batting lineup collapsed quickly. Karthik Sharma hit a few big shots, including two sixes during his rapid 28-ball innings, while Tomar achieved his fourth List A century, but Rajasthan were eventually bowled out for 267 runs, with Sai Kishore and Sandeep Warrier taking two wickets each. Tamil Nadu began their chase strongly, with N Jagadeesan scoring a quickfire 65 off 52 balls.

Nonetheless, Rajasthan recovered with quick wickets after Tamil Nadu had reached 60 runs in just seven overs. Baba Indrajith (37), Vijay Shankar (49), and Ali (34) contributed to a steady chase. In the 35th over, Tamil Nadu was comfortably placed at 185 for 4, in control of the chase. However, Ali’s run out sparked a batting collapse, and Tamil Nadu was unable to regain stability. Shankar, Sai Kishore, and Chakravarthy attempted to stabilize the inning, but they ultimately ended up with a total of 248 runs.
